Man I am owning up to, after self analysing...that I...struggle with a little bit of "hating." I try not to... I try to be fully supportive of all forms of creativity and expression from all individuals...but something about a busker asking ppl to "skudge in so they can, feel the vibe" just makes me laugh on the inside but also immediately irate so that nullifies the laughter... It's a confusing feeling... There are also other, things...that cause the same reaction... But I see that essentially, that mostly probably just means I have some "haterish" streaks and should do the best possible thing to respond to that feeling.... Focus back on my own work

Would anyone use an AMPLIFIER, if they sang out of tune so to embarrass themselves in front of everyone? I wouldn't.

Don't get me wrong I liked his music and all, I was a patreon of his, but in some instances, he should NOT have used an amplifier when he sings out of tune to some songs. If I was a horrible singer I would never use an amplifier to make myself sound even worse, especially in areas where people are enjoying a coffee in a street full of cafes. Let them enjoy in peace. Otherwise I would tell someone to go up to him and lower the sound a little. Or simply not use an amplifier at all. That's what it's really about, Buskers using amplifiers, makes them sound LOUDER than normal.

Noise pollution is a criminal offence??? wtf??? it's only noise pollution if SOME buskers use those damn amplifiers to make them sound louder. You wouldn't use an amplifier in an area where there are cafe's and people enjoying a cup of coffee outside and have to listen to someone who cant sing that well. Just don't use an amplifier, SIMPLE. People can still hear you when they walk pass you, you don't have to let them hear you from all the way down the street.

Thanks for the video as a busker in Sydney the thing that has really destroyed us is no one carrying cash any more.All the other issues are not relevant and only complicate the issue to those we seek to inform Buskers have always had to deal with councils and other authorities. Please just stick to that big issue otherwise it becomes diluted with other side issues and just makes us look like complainers.Sydney used to be a wonderful haven for buskers ,now it is impossible for most artists to make a reasonable income.

Busked all around the world.. this is what we have to deal with.. which is unbelievably sad- if people didn't like what we do they wouldn't pay us- big power hungry corporations and their minions are just obstacles that we encounter and fight through to make our living all the more worthwhile... they can try to make us conform but will never break our spirit

The local municipality I live in (Mornington Peninsula Council, Victoria, Australia) regulations require you to apply to the local chamber of commerce for a letter of permission, that letter, a council application and AU$239 is sent to council, who may give you a 3 month permit, depending on busking numbers you may get 2 more 3 month extensions.. It’s designed I think purely discourage busking. 😢

Very insightful as always. Your work fighting Bournemouth Poole and Christchurch Council was phenomenal Nick, and you saved us all from some of the oppression. It was the worst I've known in all the UK, and I've busked in all the major cities. I prefer smaller towns these days, much much much less bureaucracy. There is hope. Cash isn't dead yet.
